Hello. My name is Pat. I firmly believe that people need hobbies to keep themselves busy but also as a way to reflect upon the world and indulge in the delight of creativity. I love tackling projects or learning new things, but my favorite crafts and hobbies are scrapbooking and knitting. In this blog, I want to share my passion about crafting and hobbies. I will write instructional guides, tips on getting inspired, overviews of unique crafts and hobbies, and more. I am a mom of two grown girls, and I have one grandson. I hope you enjoy these blogs. Thanks for reading and happy crafting!

Kids love to play various role-playing games where they take on different roles based on the real world. The purchase of big foam blocks allows their imagination to grow. One game a child can play with the foam blocks is restaurant. When a child plays restaurant with friends or stuffed animals, they can build both social skills and math skills.
Follow this guide to learn the various ways to incorporate foam blocks into the playtime experience.
The Restaurant Kitchen
Foam blocks serve as great elements of a pretend restaurant kitchen for kids. Large blocks can represent elements like a stove, oven, griddle, or refrigerator. The flat surface of a block is an ideal place for a child to pretend to cook and make a wide variety of foods. Children can create a "U" shape with the blocks and have different ways to spin around and prepare meals.
Tables & Chairs
Children can use a variety of foam blocks to set up the layout of the restaurant. Larger blocks can serve as the tables and smaller blocks work well as chairs. Children can easily balance stuffed animals on the blocks. If other children play, then set up smaller chairs to sit at the large foam tables.
Front Counter Space
Use long rectangle foam block pieces to create a front counter for the restaurant. The area is ideal for a child to set up a cash register and quick service items like pretend drinks. With the cash register set up, a child can count money, do basic math, and cash out restaurant guests.
The area can sit right in front of the kitchen space and give the restaurant owner a place to organize all of the items and greet customers.
Entrance Area
The softness of foam blocks allows a child to build them up and create an entranceway for the restaurant. Some foam pieces feature an arch shape. A child could also create a doorway opening with two stacked pillars and a long foam block that sits across the top.
When children go to dine at the pretend restaurant, they can enter through the opening just like a real restaurant would have. From there, a pretend waiter could seat them at one of the foam block tables. The more foam blocks you own, the easier it is to make a bigger restaurant with more features.
Encourage and guide a child through their first pretend restaurant experience. From there, you can watch them explore and use big foam blocks in a lot of imaginative ways.
